American cable channel, SyFy have made all of our nostalgia dreams come true, and have picked up a brand new TV revival of the epic horror-comedy Tremors. And yes, you read that right. Bacon is back.
Kevin Bacon will return to his role as Valentine McKee after a 25-year break and will take place in the present day, where McKee will once again have to fight off the subterranean worm-like Graboids from invading the town of Perfection, in Nevada (Jeez, the guy can’t catch a break, can he?) However, this time it won’t be so easy for Valentine, as he tries to defeat the creatures while defeating his own demons and ‘battling age, alcohol and delusional hero complex’ says the Hollywood Reporter.
The new announcement doesn’t come as a huge shock to Tremors fans, as in 2015, Bacon spoke of his eagerness to reprise his role.
This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years? [Screenwriter] Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it.
As well as starring in the new project, Bacon will also executive produce the reboot alongside the showrunners, Andrew Miller and David Schiff. At the moment, there’s no news on whether the original cast will join Bacon to fight off the Graboids (you know what they say, many hands make light work) but we can only hope they will.
