I mean, who doesn’t love X-Files? When the series first aired back in 1993, we were hooked from the get-go. FBI agents, conspiracy theories, murders, paranormal phenomena and unsolved cases – we live for that stuff. The series initially ran on FOX for nine seasons until 2002, but in 2016, our dreams were made reality, and they brought our favorite duo back onto our screens for a tenth season.
But it seems FOX are worming their way into our good book even more this year, and just yesterday… they confirmed an 11th series! (Yay!) It seems the success of last year’s 10-episode revival proved so popular that FOX wants in on the Mulder and Scully action, and have ordered executive producer, Chris Carter, to produce an extra 10-episode season. And we couldn’t be happier.
The new season will be bringing back X-Files alum, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (of course, what would X-Files be without them?) and the story will include even more twists and turns. David Madden, the president of FOX Broadcasting company, released a press release yesterday:
Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide. Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.
We can’t wait either!
