So right about now, you’re probably (like us) having intense withdrawal symptoms from Stranger Things. We miss Eleven (who is awesome irl by the way), we miss Eggos, and we even miss the Upside Down and the Demogorgon. But now we’re at the beginning of May; we can finally say that we’ll be getting our favorites back in our lives in 6 months time (yay!) Stranger Things 2 will be released on Halloween, and we couldn’t be more excited if we tried. Especially because the cast has let slip that this new season will be even more horrifying.
Of course, the first season definitely had a lot of horror elements, and there were definitely times when we hid behind our pillows. I mean, what even is a Demogorgon? But this year promises to be even more disturbing.
Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, has since spoken to Emmy Magazine:
I think this season will be a lot [darker]. A lot more horror oriented. I think people are going to like it more than the first season.
Which is a pretty big statement, considering everyone LOVED the first season. He also went to explain that in Stranger Things 2, it’s the characters faces and facial features that are more disturbing – because there’s going to be even more monsters. And this makes us happy.
As well as this heightened horror aspect, the new season is set to bring us even closer to the characters of the show. In season one, we learned all about Will, Mike and their family members, but many of the other characters were left in the dark. But season two is set to explore the lives of these lesser known characters, like Lucas and Dustin – so we become even closer to them throughout the series.
If you remember rightly (which of course you do, because it’s been playing on your mind every day since) the last season ended with Will. He had finally been rescued from the Upside Down, but something wasn’t quite right about him. And we’re on tenterhooks waiting for what’s next. Gaten Matarazzo, who stars as Dustin on the show, has said that his friends,
Feel alone because their best friend is back and he’s not acting like their best friend anymore. He’s changed.
We really hope these six months go pretty quickly.
