Even though Friends finished in 2004, its constant re-runs means that the sitcom is still as famous today as it was back in the day, and we’ve probably watched all of the episodes about 26 times each. At least.
And Chandler Bing was definitely one of the funniest characters on the show (although it’s very close. They’re all hilarious). With his witty one-liners, he was the kind of sarcastic friend that every friendship group has. And if you can’t figure out which one of your group is the Chandler Bing – it’s probably you.
But with ten seasons to his name, you’d think Matthew Perry would struggle to decide which of Chandler’s one-liners he loved the most. Apparently not. Last Thursday, Matthew Perry appeared on Good Morning America to promote his new series, The Kennedys After Camelot (sorry, Perry. We just can’t see you as anyone other than Chandler Bing).
During his interview, he was asked about his favorite one-liner from Friends. And we were shocked by his response.
It seems like Matthew Perry’s favorite line come from the episode, “The One With Ross’s New Girlfriend” in Season 2. Chandler talks to Joey about his tailor and their conversation goes like this:
Joey: “You should go see Frankie, my family’s been going to him forever. He did my first suit when I was 15…No, wait, 16. No, excuse me, 15. When was 1990?”
Chandler: “Ok, you have to stop the Q-tip when there’s resistance.”
Now, we like to think of ourselves as Friends connoisseurs. And sure, this is a funny remark. But it’s definitely not the best.
In 2016, Perry revealed that he doesn’t remember filming three of the ten seasons of Friends due to his drug addiction, which is when Chandler really topped the funny scale, so maybe he just doesn’t remember some of his best. We’ll give you a little reminder. These are some of our favorites.
“I’m really glad we’re having a rehearsal dinner. I rarely practice my meals before I eat.”
“Hi, I’m Chandler, I make jokes when I’m uncomfortable.”
“Why, yes Ross. Pressing my third nipple, it opens the delivery entrance to the magical land of Narnia.”
“Can’t we just lose our virginities again? Because I think, actually, mine’s growing back.”
“I’m not great at the advice. Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?”
Why, yes. Yes, you can, Chandler.
What’s your favorite Chandler one-liner?
