Karl Urban Hints at Return for Judge Dredd TV Show

It could be happening!

Karl Urban is officially in talks with IM Global and Rebellion Production to bring us back our favorite comic book character in their brand new Judge Dredd TV series. And who else could play Judge Dredd? After starring in the movie, it just has to be Urban.

The new TV series has been called Judge Dredd: Mega City One, and Karl hasn’t turned down the offer to reprise his role just yet. At the Star Trek Las Vegas Convention last week, Karl spoke about the opportunity.

I am in discussions with them about that, I told them that if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to.

Well, we’re going to take that as a good, solid ‘maybe.’ And that’s good enough for us!

According to initial reports, the new TV series will follow the comic book character and his battle to rid the East Coast of the US of its futuristic, crime-riddled status. It’s said that Judge Dredd will star alongside a plethora of other Judges (of course, we all know that the Judges in Judge Dredd are cops that have the ability to sentence, decide and practice the fate of their criminals. Pretty awesome) who will try and contain the criminals, to make the area a safe place once more. And from the sounds of it, it will be pretty intense.

The owners of Rebellion Productions have spoken about their collaboration with Judge Dredd and the epic comic book storylines.

We’re very excited to be beginning the journey to get more of Judge Dredd’s Mega-City One on the television screen. Thanks to the legions of fans who have kept up the pressure on social media, and a lot of background work and enthusiasm, we aim to make a big budget production that will satisfy both our vast comic audience and the even greater general screen-watching project.

The 2012 Judge Dredd movie (creatively titled, Dredd) featured Karl Urban as the main protagonist, and although it was a flop at the box-office, comic book fans from across the world congratulated the casting of Karl Urban – so let’s hope the TV series can get him on board!
