Yep, it really is going to be hot, hot, hot – because this new show is going to follow the lives of Seattle firefighters. Our dreams have finally come true.
So far, the new spin-off hasn’t got a name, but what we do know is that we can expect the firefighters on our screens during the 2017-2018 season on ABC. Despite this, we’re going to be introduced to the new show earlier than that, as the new cast members will be shown on an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy (as if we need any more reason to watch GA?)
The Network President of ABC announced the news today, saying that the new untitled show will,
Follow these brave men and women – from captain to new recruit – as they risk their lives and their hearts in the line of duty and off the clock.
He then went on to talk about the link between Grey’s Anatomy and the new show,
No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda [Rhimes], and Grey’s signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spin-off.
And this isn’t the first time the Grey’s Anatomy creator, Shonda Rhimes has put her hands into the spin-off cookie jar, as she has already worked on the spin-off Grey’s Practice from 2007 to 2013 – so it seems creating a new show will be a doddle. She will act as the executive producer for the untitled firefighter series, and the current producer of Grey’s Anatomy, Stacy McKee, will be on hand to write the whole series.
Well, if it’s anything like Grey’s Anatomy, it’s going to be incredible. There’s only one thing we love more than doctors and nurses – and that’s firefighters.
