Yep, this is bad news for Game of Thrones fans (A.K.A everyone in the whole entire world) as we may be waiting a little longer for winter to come…
As the release date for season seven of Game of Thrones imminently approaches (next month, eeeeek), cast and crew members have been talking to the press about the new season, releasing some hot new gossip – and also crushing our dreams.
When talking to Entertainment Weekly, the programming president of HBO, Casey Bloys, was asked about Game of Thrones season 8 – and hinted that we could be seeing the gang back together (although not necessarily on good terms. When are they?) in 2019, rather than 2018.
Yeah. They [showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss] have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing.
WELL, GET WRITING DANGIT.
This news comes as a tough blow to hardcore Game of Thrones fans who love their yearly dose of the series – and even then, we want it quicker. The show is known for its epic cliffhangers and extended rest periods, but Boys believes this larger gap will make the show even bigger and better.
One of the hallmarks of the show has been how cinematic it is.The show has proven that YV is every bit as impressive and in many cases more so than film. What they’re doing is monumental. When you see these battles in season 7, and what I imagine Game of Thrones season 8 will be, it’s a big, big show.
But Boys didn’t stop there with the bad news. A few weeks ago, we wrote about the potential Game of Thrones spin-offs coming to our screens – five, in fact. Well, Boys has told us to forget about that, well… four of them anyway. Apparently, HBO will only be going ahead with one of these spin-offs.
Geeze, we can tell why Boys and George R. R. Martin are friends. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
This is how we feel right now.
