Cowboy Bebop first entered our screens in 1998 and soon become one of the best anime shows ever created – and it’s FINALLY coming back into our lives, even bigger and better.
It has now been confirmed that the Japanese Anime series will be adapted into an epic live-action series by Tomorrow Studios, partnered with Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios.
The new live-action series will be executive produced by the studio who brought us the original animation – Sunset Inc, along with a whole host of other creators, producers, and directors. But by far the best news to come from this development is the new writer of the series. Tomorrow Studios have managed to bag themselves one of the best writers around to bring Cowboy Bebop back to life, the writer of the Marvel’s Thor – Chris Yost.
The story behind Cowboy Bebop is what captivated its audience in the late ‘90s. Set in 2071, the series follows the life of Spike Spiegel and his band of bounty hunters (cowboys) who travel across the galaxies to find and capture the wanted bad guys – but of course, it’s not as simple as that. They save the world but leave a trail of destruction behind them (because who likes to clean up after themselves?)
Marty Adelstein, one of the big cheeses behind the new live-action remake has spoken of his excitement about the new project:
We are excited to work with Sunrise in bringing this beloved anime to the U.S and global marketplace as a live-action series. The animated version has long resonated with audiences worldwide, and with the continued, ever growing, popularity of anime, we believe a live-action version will have an incredible impact today.
We think so too!
