As you can probably tell, we love everything retro and ‘90s. And there is nothing more ‘90s than Nick Carter and Emma Bunton. So the fact they’re coming together in one awesome show, appropriately called Boy Band, makes us feel particularly nostalgic…
The Backstreet Boys singer and Baby Spice will head the panel of the new ABC talent show and reality series, Boy Band which aims to find the world’s hottest new boy band since One Direction.
The all-new show will debut on June 22 on ABC, and will feature the two superstars as the
“architects’ of the show, or the ‘experts who will guide contestants throughout their journey to stardom.” They will be joined by host Rita Ora, following on from her stint of hosting America’s Next Top Model.
It’s said that over the course of 10 episodes, the panel and the show’s host, Rita Ora, will find male solo artists who they can train and mould to form the perfect boy band (much like Backstreet Boys, of course). The winning band will then receive a massive recording deal with Hollywood Records. Not bad, ey? And with two boy/girl band members helping them out, they’re under pretty solid direction.
The show will feature 18 boy band hopefuls, who are then split up into three different boy bands. Each week, the judges will critique the bands, and decide which two contestants were the weakest. These two singers will then battle it out to receive the public vote, and be saved from the competition.
The show sounds like pure cheese – so naturally, we’ll be watching every episode.
