Hands up if you’ve ever clutched your shampoo bottle to your chest while in the shower and pretended that you were winning an award? Yup, us too. While some of you may have won an Oscar (who the heck is Oscar), or even a Grammy (because you’re basically ‘Yonce), we’ve always dreamed of winning an Emmy. It’s the piece-de-resistance of any television actors’ career, and everyone wants one of those bad boys on their mantlepiece. So, who lucked out at the 2018 Emmy Award nominations? You’ll be happy to know that some of our faves are looking to bring home the bacon – or the kale if they’re on one of those weird celeb diets.
The biggest contenders for this years Emmy Awards has to be the one, the only… Game of Thrones! Yuh-huh, these guys have been nominated for a whopping 22 awards! We know the show is like the coolest thing in the universe, pretty much ever, but even were surprised by that cray-cray number. They’ve been nominated for the likes of Best Drama, Writing for a Drama Series, Directing for Drama Series, and more. However, it isn’t all dragons and swords for this show, as for the first time since its premiere, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke haven’t been nominated for any awards. Awks.
Alongside GoT, some of the greatest shows and actors of today have been recognized for their incredible work on the screen. Our prediction? The Best Drama category is going to be the toughest of the lot. With the likes of The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, Westworld and Stranger Things in the same category, this is one that we just can’t call.
Of course, we love all of the shows that have been nominated for the 2018 Emmy Awards, but we couldn’t write about these nominations without talking about our favorite Fab 5 from Queer Eye. After taking the world by storm this year, the guys were over the moon to hear that they were nominated for FOUR Emmy Awarda. Wanna know what’s even cooler?! Jonathan has also been nominated for ANOTHER award for his role in another series, Gay of Thrones. Can you believe?!
The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 17, 2018. For the full list of nominees, click here. Who do you think will win?
