Did you even have a childhood if you didn’t watch Rugrats? Actually, there’s no need to answer that, because SURELY there is no one on this planet we call earth that hasn’t watched Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica do their thing. It just can’t be possible. It’s unthinkable (*shivers*). If you grew up listening to Chuckie’s permanently cold-ridden voice and watching Tommy utilize his milk bottle for all kinds of shenanigans, you’ll be happy to know that Rugrats is coming back into our lives. But the excitement doesn’t end there…
Yuh-huh, not only is Rugrats coming back in the form of another awesome television show, but it’s also being made in a movie! Is our life complete? We think so. This epic news was confirmed by Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures, who confirmed that they would be completely relaunching the animated ‘90s cartoon for the humans of 2K18. This revival will feature a 26-episode series that will be written by the original creators of the show, Paul Germain, Arlene Klasky, and Gabor Csupo. So far, there’s no news on casting or release dates, but we shall be keeping our eyes peeled for any new info.
Of course, there’s no doubt about the fact that we will be tuning in to watch the new show – but what about the movie? The Rugrats Movie was an absolute lol-athon and we’ve definitely watched it more times than we would comfortably like to admit, so will it be more of the same? Well, Paramount Players have confirmed that the movie will be released on November 13, 2020 and be written by David Goodman. So far, there’s no word on what the movie will be about, but we have a feeling it will be grooooovy. Here’s what the president of Paramount Players had to say about the new addition to their family:
Now feels like the ideal time to reintroduce this iconic cast of characters to a whole new generation of young fans. Kids who grew up with Tommy Pickles and the “Rugrats” crew will now be able to share that experience with their own children.
OR we could just binge-watch it as adults and bask in the nostalgia of it all? Man, we are so ready for this revival.
