Do you love the Beatles? Have you ever thought: wow, I’d really love a whole radio station devoted to my favorite band of all time? Well, the radio gods must have heard you, because it’s coming your way.
Yesterday, the hit American radio station, SiriusXM announced that they would be debuting their new radio channel – devoted entirely to the British pop legends, The Beatles. The new channel will be available on May 18th, just a week before The Beatles’ 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper.
Since the confirmation of the new radio station, the remaining members of The Beatles have backed the idea and will feature all of their music – both in band and solo ventures – as well as talks and discussions about the band and their career. Paul McCartney has said,
I still remember the thrill of when we first heard our music on the radio, but I don’t think any of us would have imagined that we’d have our very own Beatles radio channel more than 50 years later. The SiriusXM channel will have it all, eight days a week.
And we’re so ready for it, eight days a week. But this isn’t the first time SiriusXM have devoted a channel to one band. They have over twelve different channels for some of the most famous bands and solo artists throughout history, including Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Pitbull and Kenny Chesney.
Well, we’ll be getting out our radio and jamming along to SiriusXM from now on, that’s for sure.
