Well, it seems it’s now full steam ahead for the cast of X-Men: Dark Phoenix as we FINALLY have a director, and another little treat – a new villain…
Fox have confirmed the long-running rumors that Simon Kinberg will be taking a pew in the director’s chair for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and we’re pretty excited about it. Although this will be Kinberg’s first directorial debut, he’s not exactly a stranger to the franchise. Kinberg has previously worked as the producer on X-Men: New Mutants and X-Men: First Class, as well as Deadpool and its sequel (which is being filmed RIGHT NOW!)
This new development comes as Fox finally confirms the cast for the new movie. Sophie Turner will be returning to X-Men as Jean Grey, as well as Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, James McAvoy as Professor X, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
But the fun doesn’t stop there.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that there will be an all-new villain in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Apparently, Jessica Chastain will be joining the cast as Lilandra. Oooooh. And she sounds pretty epic. Take a look at this:
Lilandra [is] the empress of an alien empire called the Shi’ar, who leads the quest to imprison and execute Dark Phoenix, leading her into conflict with the X-Men.
We can’t wait to see what she brings to the movie! X-Men: Dark Phoenix will debut in cinemas on November 2, 2018.
