When you think of Wonder Woman, you probably think of Lynda Carter in THAT Wonder Woman Suit. The 1970’s TV show proved incredibly popular among superhero fans, and truly gave Wonder Woman a stage to become a cult classic. So when we heard about the new movie – we were a bit skeptical.
The new movie is set to be released next month, and will star Gal Gadot as the new lead. But can you really top Lynda Carter? Well, the director has now confirmed that the new movie will be a ‘spiritual homage’ to the ‘70s TV show we all knew and loved.
When talking to Sci-Fi now, Patty Jenkins said:
I feel like we’re homaging it in a big, spiritual way. It’s partly what inspired me and started my love affair with Wonder Woman. And so, more than anything, I think we’re homaging the spirit of that Wonder Woman.
She goes onto say that there are plenty of Easter Eggs and subtle homages in the new film that she can’t wait to see if people can; apparently they really are that subtle. Oooh, we’re intrigued. It might be time to rewatch the old series to prepare for the new film.
The new Wonder Woman movie is released in the UK on June 1, 2017 and US on June 2, 2017. And we’re pretty excited. But we’ll let you know what we think of it.
