In a promotional event in Shanghai, the creator of Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder confirmed that he’s already in talks with Warner Bros about Wonder Woman 2 – even though the first movie hasn’t even been released yet. I mean, talk about getting two for the price of one.
The news comes after a Twitter user attended the press event, where Snyder addressed the crowd and superhero fans to announce the news. The first movie is set to be released on May 30, but Snyder made it clear that Wonder Woman 2 wouldn’t be released for a while yet, as the production company is focusing on the imminent release of Batgirl.
The news comes as a shock to fans and movie fanatics, as it’s unusual to hear of a sequel before the first movie is released – because let’s be honest, Wonder Woman might be awful, and we might not even want a second movie (unlikely. But it could happen). But Snyder seems pretty confident with the upcoming movie, and the original Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has previously stated her desire to develop her character over the years.
I’m excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero… Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.
Exciting stuff! Catch the new Wonder Woman movie in cinemas from May 30.
