If you’re a fan of the original Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies, you may be feeling pretty wary about the upcoming reboot. And we have to admit, we are too. Do we really need a remake? How will it fare compared to the video games? Well, we don’t have long to find out, considering it will be hitting our screens in March next year.

However, Entertainment Weekly have released an epic teaser image and character details that are quashing all of our fears. Because this looks, and sounds, pretty darn epic.

Speaking in an interview, Lara Croft actress, Alicia Vikander has spoken of her new character.

She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits, but we’ve stripped away all of the experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought he was a stuck up business person living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.

So, unlike the other movies where Lara Croft is already equipped with the skills and experience to basically boss the whole world, Vikander’s Lara will be starting from scratch – which kinda makes it even more exciting. And it seems this movie will involve a lot of water, which isn’t surprising since The Wave director, Roar Uthaug is taking the helm for this movie.

Just like in The Wave, we have a lot of water sequences. I spent my last two days of shooting in a tank and that was my 16th total day of being fully drenched or submerged in water. For one action scene, we used the London venue for Olympic rafting. They threw me down that river, with my hands tied, about 50 times. I didn’t need to act, just react!

    Well, rather her than us.

Entertainment Weekly also provided us with this incredible action shot of Lara Croft hanging off the edge of a cliff edge. Check it out:

The new Tomb Raider movie will also star Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Alexandre Willaume, Daniel Wu and Leo Ashizawa. And considering there’s the San Diego Comic Con next week, we reckon we’ll be getting the first trailer pretty soon. Keep your eyes peeled.
