If you’re an avid reader of RetroEnt (which, to be honest, you should be) you’ll know that we’re pretty darn tootin’ obsessed with Marvel (#nerdlife). We love everything to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe – because really, who cares about being an adult when you can be a superhero instead? Whether you just want to be super smart like Iron Man, shrink yourself like Ant-Man, or be the master of magic like Doctor Strange, we all have our favorite super heroes and we know what our super powers would be. But let’s be honest, there’s no one quite like Thor. After all, he is a God. Naturally, we’re pretty excited about the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie, so we just had to give you a round-up of everything you need to know about the next Thor movie…
What’s Thor: Ragnarok about?
Thor: Ragnarok takes place four years after Thor and his superhero pals saved the Aether from destroying the Nine Realms, and two years after The Avengers clubbed together to battle the evil Ultron from destroying the Universe (because baddies just love to do that). This new movie will follow Thor as he lives life in captivity on the planet Sakaar – which wouldn’t be too bad, if his hammer hadn’t been taken away from him. To escape from captivity, Thor must battle against the Hulk, and return to Asgard to stop Hela, the evil villainess, who aims to destroy Asgard once and for all. Can he do it?
Who is in Thor: Ragnarok?
Of course, a Thor sequel wouldn’t be a Thor sequel without Chris Hemsworth, who will be returning to save Asgard from the evil that lurks there. Thor will also be joined by his adoptive brother, Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston), an awesome son-of-a-gun by the name of Heimdall (played by Idris Elba), The Grandmaster (played by Jeff Goldblum), Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) and the Hulk (played by, of course, Mark Ruffalo). Together, they will work to defeat Hela (played by Cate Blanchett).
Why all the hype?
Although Thor: Ragnarok has yet to be released, the cheeky devils who work in the entertainment industry have already had a sneak peak at the movie, which means we can already get a feel of it’s success. So far, the movie has gone down a storm and has racked up an impressive 98% on Rotten Tomatoes (which is kind of a big deal). Critics have already praised the movie for its effortless mix of humor, action, and an epic soundtrack.
When is Thor: Ragnarok out?
Luckily, we don’t have to wait too long to lovingly gaze into Thor’s eyes once more, as Thor: Ragnarok will be released in theaters on November 3, 2017 in the US, and 27th October, 2017 in the UK. But if you can’t wait until then, check out the trailer. You know you want to.
