Last month, we told you everything we knew about the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series – and now we’ve got the first trailer.
The new series has been on our brains for months now, and it seems as if we’ve been waiting years (okay, not years) for Star Trek: Discovery to finally be released. We’ve got another few months to wait until the series finally drops on CBS All Access and Netflix, but at least we’ve got something to tide us over…
The new teaser trailer features Walking Dead star, Sonequa Martin-Green as the First Officer Michael Burnham of the Discovery, and will follow her life and progress as she learns the ropes of captaincy. But in true Star Trek form, it’s not going to be easy – there’s feisty Klingon’s to deal with, allegiances to maintain and a peacekeeping mission that isn’t going down so well. And we’re sooooo excited.
While Sonequa and her captain, Michelle Yeoh are completely new to the Star Trek franchise, the new trailer doesn’t seem a far cry from the Star Trek we know and love. While the special effects and graphics feel much more modern, the aesthetic is the same. And so are some of the returning faces. But we’ll leave that for you to find out for yourself… we don’t want to spoil all the fun.
The new series is a prequel to the original Star Trek series, and is set ten years previous (remember that, otherwise you might get a bit confused) and will debut its overarching plot (oooh, what could that be?) across fifteen brand new episodes in the fall.
And we’re so ready.
