If you’ve been keeping up with RetroEnt as religiously as you keep up with the Kardashians (no judgement here) you will probably remember us writing about Quentin Tarantino’s plans to make a horror movie based on the Manson Family Murders. As if that wasn’t enough, a few months later we hinted towards the potential cast for said movie, because we’re just super nice like that. Although ol’ Tarantino has kept pretty schtum about this new project, we can now FINALLY reveal some truth in the matter, as Quentin’s ninth movie has now revealed its first official cast member…

Leonardo Dicaprio WILL Star In Quentin Tarantino's Manson Movie

Yep, after rumors that Quentin Tarantino had approached Leo to appear in his movie, it has now been confirmed that he will star in the Manson movie, and is pretty close to signing on the dotted line. In the past few months, the script and concept of the movie has been scooped up by Sony, who will be funding the project to be released on August 9, 2019. Unfortunately, the production team aren’t letting slip who Leonardo will play in the movie (could he be Manson himself?), but it’s thought that he will play an aging actor in the Charles Manson storyline – a chilling turn of events which took place in the summer of 1969 in Los Angeles. It’s also believed that this so-far untitled movie will be very similar to his directorial masterpiece, Pulp Fiction. So yeah, it’s going to be pretty darn epic.

Quentin Tarantino is getting his cast ready for Charles Manson movie

Although there are no other confirmed actors or actresses for the movie, it’s now common knowledge that Quentin himself has asked Margot Robbie to play Sharon Tate – the actress and wife of Roman Polanski, who sadly lost her life at the hands of the Manson cult. It’s thought that he has also approached both Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt to appear alongside her, which would be bloomin’ awesome.

Although we’re excited about the prospect of new actors on the set, the news of Leonardo DiCaprio’s casting has got us all leaping for joy (okay, we’re actually just sat down with a smile on our face) as this movie will mark his return to the world of acting after his Oscar-winning performance in The Revenant in 2015. Could this be another Oscar-worthy performance? Well, it could be on the cards…
