Kate Winslet to Join James Cameron’s Avatar 2 Cast

Every night in her dreams, she sees… Pandora?

When it comes to Hollywood legends, Kate Winslet and James Cameron stand side by side. Now, 20 years after the pair graced our screens with Titanic (oh yeah, and with a little help from Leo DiCaprio), the duo are reuniting for the James Cameron sequel, Avatar 2.

Although the new appointment comes as a surprise, it makes total sense. When Winslet and Cameron worked together in 1997, their collaboration took the box-office by storm, and became the highest grossing film of all time – that was, until Avatar took over in 2009. So why not see if Cameron can overtake his own record with the woman who helped him in the first place?

James Cameron and Kate Winslet reunite for Avatar 2

Deadline reported the news on Tuesday, and shared their interview with James Cameron, where he spoke of the new addition to his sequel.

Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.

Who’s Ronal you ask? Well, we actually have no idea (sorry). Cameron didn’t go into any more detail on her character, but we reckon she’ll play a major part in the movie – because nobody puts Kate Winslet in the corner. Hopefully we’ll find out soon enough, though, as Cameron confirmed last week that production had officially began on the FOUR Avatar sequels, which will be released between 2020 and 2025.

We know what you’re thinking – that is a bloomin’ long time to wait, but James Cameron doesn’t seem to think this is an issue, as some of the most iconic sequels of all time (like Terminator 2 and Alien) have had major gaps in their release.

Avatar will have four more sequels, starring Kate Winslet

It’s gonna be obviously more like a ten year gap between Avatar and Avatar 2. But Avatar 2 you are going to with not the promise, but the certainty of three more films beyond that, and that’s a very different concept with the audience. And a lot of the delay has been around creating that overall vision.

Well, we’re sold. We already knew the sequel was going to be bangin’, but now Kate Winslet is involved…we’re even more excite and can’t wait to see Kate in Pandora!
