So let’s be honest – we just can’t wait for the Jurassic World sequel. The first installment rose to success when it was first released in 2015, and became the fourth-highest-grossing film in cinematic history. So no pressure for the next one, right? But with J.A Bayona returning to direct, we can expect it to be just as good as the first one.
Universal Pictures have already confirmed that Jurassic World alum, Chris Pratt will be returning for the next movie (that’s old news) – because what’s Jurassic World without Chris Pratt? But yesterday, they unveiled a new addition to the cast, Jeff Goldblum. And we couldn’t be happier.
Of course, Goldblum is no stranger to the odd Dino or two. In fact, he has previously co-starred in the 1993 Jurassic Park and the 1997 follow-up, The Lost World, Jurassic Park – so we reckon he’s ready to get back into the action. In the new movie, he will be starring as Dr. Ian Malcolm, who you may remember from the original movie and sequel. Malcolm is the kind of know-it-all mathematician and insurance consultant who we just loved to hate.
Goldblum will be joining other confirmed cast members for the upcoming movie. Bryce Dallas Howard, Justice Smith, Toby Jones, and James Cromwell will be returning to the second installment of the franchise, and the new script has been written by Jurassic World director, Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. Jurassic World producers, Pat Cowley and Frank Marshall will be joined back on set by executive producer, Steven Spielberg (of course. Dinosaurs without Steven Spielberg is like bread without butter).
The film is due to be released on June 22, 2018, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out.
