There’s no one cooler than John Travolta (fact), and there’s no one more intriguing than New York Mafia boss, John Gotti (also a fact). So when we heard that the Pulp Fiction and Saturday Night Fever actor would be playing the crime lord, we may have got a little bit excited. And now we can justify our excitement, as a trailer has been released for the crime drama epic, Gotti.
Gotti follows the life of John Gotti, as he goes from petty criminal to one of the toughest Mafia bosses in the whole of New York, earning him his nickname Teflon Don. The story spans three decades and is narrated by his son John Jr. (played by Spencer Lofranco), with Travolta playing alongside his real-life wife, Kelly Preston, as Gotti’s wife. We’ll hold onto the edge of our seats as Gotti (Travolta) tries to keep his family together through tragedies, several prison sentences, and a LOT of people out to get him. This movie has been a long time in the making, with the first reports surfacing in 2011, but casting issues dragging the process out longer than some of Gotti’s prison sentences.
John Gotti rose to the top of his game after orchestrating the murder of Paul Castellano, or as they call him in the trailer “the bosses’ boss.” This killing catapulted Gotti to Mafia crime lord as part of the Gambino Crime Family, making him one of the most interesting criminals this century. And it seems as though John Travolta is happy to come out all guns blazing in this crime drama, which is due to hit theaters in December 2017… Just in time for awards season, which is a happy coincidence we’re sure.
