So let’s be honest, we’re all huge fans of Star Wars, right? Who isn’t? And we’ll try and get our hands on every kind of Star Wars memorabilia we can. But we might have to draw the line at this one – as much as we really, really, really, reaaaaaallly want it.
If you’re a mega fan of the Star Wars franchise, and especially Darth Vader, you should be probably be counting out your pennies right now, because you’re going to need deep pockets for this one. A jewelry store in Tokyo is giving you the opportunity to own a life-size replica of Darth Vader’s mask – made of solid gold. Yep, you read that right. We’ll repeat – a GOLD Darth Vader Mask.
The golden mask is forged out of 24-karat gold and has been made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original release of the first Star Wars movie. But if you’re thinking of it as the perfect addition to your next Comic-Con outfit – you might want to think again. The mask weighs a hefty 15 Kilograms (33 pounds) and doesn’t actually have a head hole. But it would look great on your mantelpiece.
And it wasn’t an easy piece to make. The marketing manager of the jewelry store, Hirotsugu Tsuchiya has said that no less than ten goldsmiths were used to make the solid gold Darth Vader mask, saying:
The most difficult aspect was that each section of the mask was created by a different gold craftsman and then assembled to make one Darth Vader mask.
And we thank them for this. Because this is one of the finest things, we’ve seen during our lifetime. And we wish we could buy one – but alas, we don’t have 154 million yen.
And if you’re not up to date with your currency rates, that’s a lot. In fact, it’s more than a lot. This mask will set you back a cool $1.4 million.
We want it. We need it.
