We all love Downton Abbey, right? Well – it’s coming back. And this time to the big screen.
Yep, you heard that right. A Downton Abbey movie. Could there be anything better? It has now been confirmed that the writer of the upstairs-downstairs ITV show has joined forced with Carnival Films to bring us a brand new movie, and filming is due to start in September. Yay!
And insider within the new project has been in talks with The Sun.
Film bosses have requested the services of crew members and accountants to work on the picture. A budget has been set, and now it’s a case of getting everything in place to start shooting. It would take something big to stop the project from happening now.
The British period drama has been a huge hit both in the UK and overseas, so it’s no surprise this new movie has come about. It’s been said that Julian had had the script for the movie stored away, even before the movie had first been given the green light. But he’s ready to get going as soon as possible.
There has been talk surrounding a Downton Abbey movie for the past year or so, but nothing was ever concrete, and many people put the delay down to the busy schedules of Downton stars, Hugh Bonneville and Maggie Smith. But it seems now is a better time than ever, and it’s been reported that nearly all of the cast are willing to be a part of the new movie.
And we can’t wait to wait.
