We reckon we’re way overdue a reboot of our beloved Charlie’s Angels. Well, thankfully, we’re getting one. It has been known for some time that Sony has been interested in dipping their toes into the Charlie’s Angels water, and it seems they’ve got big plans for the new reboot/remake.
Elizabeth Banks will be taking the director’s seat in the new movie – her second time behind the camera since directing Pitch Perfect 2 (which, to be honest, was an absolute smash hit). Although a script for the new movie has already been written by Beauty & The Beast scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos, it seems Sony weren’t happy with the end result. They’ve now drafted in Narcos scribes, Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro to rewrite it. We have to say, we think Narcos and Charlie’s Angels goes together much better than Beauty & The Beast and Charlie’s Angels (although we love B&TB).
Banks and Sony also seem to have their hearts set on Janelle Monae to become one of the elusive Angels in the new movie. Monae has recently come into the public eye after her role in Hidden Figures, and is said to be the number one candidate for the movie – but there are no confirmations of this as of yet. And there are no words on who will play the other Angels, but we definitely accept!
No official release date has been confirmed yet, but word through the grapevine is that Sony is aiming for a June 7th, 2019 release. That gives us enough time to practice our martial arts…
