Long live the King!

Okay, okay, let’s get something straight – everyone loves Marvel, right? It must be, because we can’t see any reason why anyone WOULDN’T love it, watch it everyday, and be utterly obsessed with how SUPER it all is. When it comes to Marvel movies, we really don’t discriminate. We love every single one of them, and we love every single character that comes our way. Y’know, except the baddies (although we do have a soft spot for Loki). However, we are pretty darn excited for Black Panther to get his very own movie next month, as it’s about time we got to know T’Challa a little better…

What’s it about?

If you’re up to date with your Marvel movies, you’ll know all about Black Panther already, of course. We first met T’Challa (AKA Black Panther) in Captain America: Civil War. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet him on good terms, as we met him at the same time as his father’s death. As the former King of Wakanda, their kingdom is left in disarray – until in Black Panther, we see T’Challa step up to the throne and take his place as the rightful king. However, it’s not easy for the superhero. As we see him mourn a terrible loss in his life, T’Challa also has to face the enemies that threaten his kingdom and his people. With the help of Everett K. Ross and the Dora Milaje, will Black Panther be able to save his livelihood? Well, you’ll have to watch to find out…

Everything You Need to Know: Black Panther

Who is in it?

Black Panther will see Chadwick Boseman return as T’Challa/Black Panther as the leading role, but he’ll also be joined by a pretty killer cast. Michael B. Jordan will star as Erik ‘Killmonger’ Stevens, Lupita Nyong’o will star as Nakia, Danai Gurira will star as Okoye, Martin Freeman will appear as Everett K. Ross, and that’s just the start of it. In fact, the cast is one of the most exciting aspects of this new movie.

Why all the hype?

Well, it’s exactly what you’ve just read…the cast! This Black Panther movie will serve as the FIRST EVER Marvel movie that features a black superhero as the lead character. Of course, this should have happened many moons ago, but that’s a topic for another day. Alongside this, the movie will also feature a largely-black cast, which is relatively unheard of in the world of Hollywood. As if this wasn’t enough to get you booking your tickets already, Black Panther will also feature an epic soundtrack, and the one and only Kendrick Lamar has collaborated with SZA to bring the movie to life through music. Oh, and it’s Marvel. Do you need any more reason to be hyped?

When is it out?

Black Panther will be released on February 16 for those of you in the United States, but those in the United Kingdom will get the first look of this awesome new movie on February 13. However, we know it’s pretty tough waiting for a new superhero movie to be released, so until then you’ll just have to deal with watching this trailer 268 times…
