So we reckon we have a new contender for next year’s Oscar Awards – because it looks like Damien Chazelle’s brand new Neil Armstrong film, First Man, is going to take off (into space, and onto the moon where all of the epic movies go).
The new biopic will follow the life and career of Neil Armstrong and the first ever moon landing. This first-person account will give us an insight into the events between 1961 and 1969; in preparation to become the first man to step foot on the moon. The script has been adapted from the biography written by James Hansen, and they’ve got a pretty epic cast lined up already…
La La Land and Whiplash director, Damien Chazelle, has enlisted the help of fellow La-La-Lander, Ryan Gosling to take the title role. Yep, Ryan Gosling will be playing one of the most influential astronauts in history. Amazing.
Gosling will also be joined by Friday Night Lights star, Kyle Chandler, who will be joining the mission as Deke Slayton, the first Chief of the Astronaut Office for NASA (So yeah, kind of a big deal), and Corey Stoll will star as the second man on the moon, Buzz Aldrin.
With filming due to start in the next couple of weeks, we reckon these guys are the perfect team to instruct one of the most dangerous missions in history – you know, after the actual team.
First Man is set to debut in theaters on October 12, 2018.
