So if you haven’t seen the live-action Beauty and the Beast remake yet – what are you doing just sitting there?! Go watch it now! The 2017 remake wowed viewers with its beautiful and magical retelling of everyone’s favorite tale as old as time, and Emma Watson received nothing but praise for her role as Belle. And it seems we’re not the only ones waiting for a sequel…
Of course, the original Disney animation didn’t have a sequel, and Beauty and the Beast simply lived happily ever after in their castle. But this is Hollywood – and anything can happen because even Emma Watson doesn’t just want to leave it there. And Emma Watson is always right.
When she spoke to Access Hollywood, Watson said,
I would love to do a sequel. I always thought that Belle would become a teacher and she would run a library in the castle and open it up to the village. This was where I was going.
Erm, we can so get behind that. I mean, Emma is pretty much Belle anyways, as she just loves to hide books all across the States. She’s pretty much there already.
And considering the success of Beauty and the Beast (they’ve made over $1 billion in box office revenue so far. Wowza), we can’t rule a sequel out – because let’s be honest; we’d watch it.
This wouldn’t be the first time Disney would create a sequel for their live-action remakes. Disney is currently in talks and in the early stages of development for a live-action Jungle Book 2 after its initial success, and there’s even a date for a new Frozen 2 movie.
We really hope this happens.
