There’s nothing we love more than Batman. No, seriously. There really is nothing. But it seems our favorite Batty superhero may be getting a bit of a makeover in the next instalment…
Matt Reeves is taking the helm for the upcoming Batman movie, after he’s finished with the press tour for his new movie, War for the Planet of the Apes (which, by the way, looks pretty darn awesome). But during this press tour, he’s had a little chat about the Batman.
In all of [my] films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character, and you emphasize with that point of view. There’s a chance to do an almost noir-driven detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart.
Errrr, right. We’re not too sure what to make of that.
The new movie will of course star Ben Affleck, who decided to step down from his directorial role last month to focus on his on-screen performance as the elusive bat, saying,
There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.
After this, Matt Reeves was enlisted to help with the movie – but do you like this idea?
Well, we guess we’ll see what he brings to Gotham next year.
