Remember collages? You know, when you actually had actual, physical photographs and pictures that you stuck together to make one giant super-collage? Pictures of your favorite celebs, your crushes, and random words from magazines – rather than a simple mirror image of yourself on Instagram. That’s so 21st century. We’re taking it back to basics…
If you miss the days of collaging, you can now get your very own iOS app that lets you collage your way through spine-tingling nostalgia, and document your life in the most ‘90s way possible. The new Pasted app, was created by Spruced LLC and is one of the first of its kind.
When searching for inspiration for a new app, James Mercer – the frontman of the indie rock band, The Shins, approached the company with a new idea. He says,
I was vacationing with my family in Hawaii, and there’s a little restaurant in Kailua called Buzz’s. It’s probably from the ‘50s. Somewhere along the way, one of the owners had cut out photos of all of the regulars, and they had made one of those old-fashioned collages.
In practice, the app is incredibly simple. You simply select images from your camera roll (and yes, you can use as many as you want. You know what they say – the bigger the collage, the better). The app then does its technological thing and cuts all of these photos out in a collage-style, and dumps them (in a classy, nonchalant way) onto a blank canvas.
From there, it’s up to you how you want to jazz it up. You can add on filters; you can move the photos, you can adjust the colors, you can use stickers and emoticons, flowers, sunglasses, and so much more. Basically, you can take yourself back to your Lisa Frank days and bedazzle EVERYTHING. We know, this sounds amazing.
We’re going to collage to our heart’s content.
