Okay, so it seems as if we’ve been waiting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to open on Broadway since FOREVER, and now it’s finally happening! (Yay) And we’re so ready to #KeepTheSecrets.
The play, which serves as a follow-up to the original Harry Potter books and movies, has proven incredibly popular across the pond at the Palace Theater in London’s West End. Creators have now decided to take the two-part play across to America, and will be setting up shop in the newly renovated Lyric Theater in New York. At the moment, we have an opening date as April 22 2018, which means there’s only…
… until we get to see it. Not that we’re counting or extremely excited about it or anything. Of course not.
This news has come as a welcome surprise to Harry Potter fans who didn’t manage to get tickets for the London showing, or could not travel as far as Europe to see the well-anticipated play. The production struck gold at the last Olivier Awards, and walked away with a total of nine awards – for the production itself and the incredible cast.
At the moment, there has been no news on who will feature in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child cast – so we can’t wait for the next announcement. And of course, we’ll always update you dear RetroEnt readers and Potterheads.
