It’s a well known fact that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth – and don’t even try to argue because we’ll just get our lightsaber on you (we’re the highest level of Jedi, you know). And now, Disney is adding a new attraction to its billion-dollar empire. Yep, you read it correctly. Star Wars Land.
So as you can tell, we’re pretty excited. In their recent blog post, Disney have confirmed the news, and given us a glimpse into the development of the new land which will feature in both the Floridian and Californian parks at the D23 expo in California. The new 50-foot wide, 3D land model of the new park is nothing compared to the actual park which will eventually cover an incredible 14 acres of land.
Disney have reported that Star Wars Land will feature two main attractions. One of them will allow guests and super fans to take lead and captain the Millennium Falcon (basically every nerd’s lifelong dream) and take part in a top-secret mission. The other will place fans right in the center of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order. But it’s not just about the attractions. The whole 14-acres will be decked out in plush forest, otherworldly terrain, metal cantina structures and more, with the creators basing the landscape of Endor from Return of the Jedi. But of course, something as epic as this doesn’t come cheap, with each park expected to cost around $1 billion. Wowza.
Bob Chapek, Disney’s parks chairman was at the D23 expo to unveil the new model, and gave us a bit more info on the parks.
This is the most ambitious land we’ve built to date. As you move through the areas, you might be recruited to join one side or the other. Are you a spy? Are you part of the Resistance or willing to join the First Order? It’s up to you. And your role inside of that will be defined by how you choose.
I mean, we have no words. Just check out the video for yourself.
