Potterheads, hold on to your wizards hats and brace your dress robes, because there will be not one, but TWO new Harry Potter books released this year.
Harry Potter publisher, Bloomsbury have announced that they will celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the first Harry Potter book with new recruits. And as much as this fact makes us feel super, duper old, it’s got us pretty excited.
The new titles are: ‘Harry Potter: A History of Magic, The Book of Exhibition’ and ‘Harry Potter, A Journey Through a History of Magic.’ The History of Magic book will go into more detail about the subjects witches and wizards can study at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (OMG, THE DREEEEEAM) and The Journey of Magic book will explore the magical journey of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, delving into the plethora of magical creatures, spells and magical people.
The books will stand as nonfiction (but you know, still fiction in our Muggle world) add-ons to the Harry Potter franchise and will join the likes of Quidditch Through The Ages, The Tales of Beedle the Bard and Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide on the complimentary Harry Potter at the British Library Shop’s book shelf. The stories will also feed into the franchise’s extra endeavors, including the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour and the award-winning West End show (which we’ve yet to see but would really appreciate tickets. Hint hint) Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The new Harry Potter books will be released on 20 October and tie into the British Library’s Harry Potter Exhibition. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to buy them just yet, but we can imagine it will only be a matter of time. Because we have time for Harry Potter. Always.
