Supermarket chain Asda has given one customer a bit more than she was asking for (quite literally) when she found a topless Ariel from Little Mermaid on their shelves. That really is a blunder under the sea.
The stunned shopper took to Twitter to share her disgust and a picture of the swimsuit which featured the leading lady (or mermaid) from the 1989 classic Disney movie that we all know and love.
Absolutely mortified to see this on Asda’s shelf this evening – a 3-4-year-old swimming costume. What’s going on?
The swimsuit was on sale for 3-4 years olds for just £7 at the ASDA store at Ventura Retail Park in Staffordshire and featured Ariel without her iconic purple shell bra. I mean, how did that even happen?!
The supermarket chain was quick to respond to the blunder, and wrote,
This is a printing error on the costume and has been flagged with the relevant manager.
After the incident gained huge attention on social media, the spokesperson for ASDA has been pretty busy. They told OK! Online, that
We’re sorry for the printing error on the Little Mermaid swimsuit, which was caused during the production process. It only affects a small number of the swimsuits which were available from George, but we’d like to reassure our customers that we have removed all stock from sale and will ensure this doesn’t happen again.
What an utter cockle up, but we bet those topless Ariel swimsuits sell for a small fortune if you managed to bag one.
