If you’re fans of RetroEnt (which, BTW, you totally should be) you’ll know that we’re total nerds. Sure, it may seem odd that we’re ready and raring to admit that – but we’re proud, and we stand tall among the other supernerds who serve and protect this world; one comic book at a time. As uber nerds, it should come as no surprise that we love all things Harry Potter (go, go, Gryffindor) and we also love all things Pokemon (because we just have to catch ‘em all). So, when we heard that the makers of Pokemon Go would be making a Harry Potter version – well, we pretty much messed our pants.
Yep, you Wizards and Witches can feel free to raise your wands in tribute to this amazing fact, because we’re pretty darn excited.
The news came to light earlier today, when it was reported that Niantic Labs – the geniuses behind Pokemon Go – we’re working on a new project. As a follow-up to their major success last year with the Pokemon Go app, they will be making a similar app for Harry Potter fans, called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. And it’s as awesome as it sounds. The game is set to be ready for mobile in 2018, and will be a similar concept to last year’s app. You’ll be able to travel through:
Real-world neighborhoods and cities to discover mysterious artifacts, learn to cast spells, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters along the way!
The app has been officially confirmed and we definitely can expect it in our lives some time next year. However, at the moment the finer details of the game are scarce. We don’t know whether we’ll have the ability to work for a particular Hogwarts house, or whether we can play as a certain character (dibs on Hermione) or whether we’ll be able to use virtual wands to cast spells, or whether there will be any connection to Fantastic Beasts. Needless to say, there are so many possibilities and we can’t wait to give it a go.
