Street Fighter is a fighting game, originally pitting just one person against the other but as the genre grew more and more fighters would enter the arena to battle it out. Now there are tournaments held across the world, pitting the best virtual fighters against each other, and more and more games similar to Street Fighter are coming onto the market.
Tekken series (1994 – 2017)
If you like Street Fighter then you will love Tekken. Where Street Fighter offered straight up arcade-style combat, Tekken required the players to be a bit more thoughtful about how they approached their fights. Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013)

Streets of Rage (1991)
Streets of Rage was released around the same time as the early Street Fighter games and has a retro feeling to the gameplay that is still fun to play today. Instead of facing off one vs. one you take control of a character and stroll about the streets beating up all kinds of attackers, including boss fights at the end of each level. The city has been taken over by an evil crime syndicate, and it is up to you to beat up the henchmen who occupy the streets and kick out the mob boss in the final battle.

Mortal Kombat (1992 – 2016)
Although fighting games feature violence, few can replicate the brutality the Mortal Kombat brought to the genre. Where Street Fighter was focused on the arcade fighting, Mortal Kombat concentrates on the bloody consequences of the violence. As you beat your opponent into near submission, you could perform several special finishing moves called ‘Fatalities’ that were all devastating and gory. Examples of gruesome fatalities are ripping your opponents head from their body with their spinal cord attached and morphing your character into an animal before mauling the opponent.
UFC 2 (2016)
Although street fighter was ultimately simulating combat, UFC 2 practically brings it to life. The sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) is dominated by the fighting organization UFC, who bring fighters of all disciplines together to combat each other in a steel cage. Although sounding like something from a video game, it is a real sport and EA Sports have brought it to consoles. You can pick your favorite UFC fighter from their roster and try to knock your opponent out or force them to submit by contorting their body. UFC 2 is as close to fighting as you will get without having to get your own hands dirty. If you love Street Fighter, you’ll love this game.
