A few weeks ago, we reported that our very own Sandy had postponed her US tour because of severe back pain and sciatica. However, Olivia Newton-John has now confirmed that this pain was also caused by the return of breast cancer.
The devastating news was confirmed yesterday by her management team who released a statement.
The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum.
They then went on to add that,
In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows.
This is now the second time Olivia Newton-John has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Twenty five years ago in 1992, the singer was initially diagnosed, and soon became one of the leading ladies in the quest for cancer research and a huge name within health activism. After finding out she was in remission from the disease, Newton-John went one step further and created the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Research Center in Australia, that helps in the quest to find a cure for the disease, and cares for those suffering.
We wish her all the best.
