Michele took to Instagram to honor his life. Under a black and white polaroid picture of the loved-up couple, she wrote,

“4 years and it still feels like yesterday.. love you more C” with a love heart.

The pair first met on the set of musical comedy series, Glee, where Cory Monteith starred as high school jock, Finn Hudson, and Lea Michele as the theater geek, Rachel Berry. On screen, they entered into a whirlwind musical romance which soon became reality off-screen, and the pair began officially dating in 2012.

Michele and Monteith were still dating at the time of Corey’s sudden death on July 13, 2013. At just 31 years old, the actor was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room after a heroin and alcohol overdose. Throughout his career, Monteith had been open about his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, and had entered a rehab center just a few months before his death.

This is not the first time Michele has posted a touching tribute to Corey. On the second and third anniversary of his death, she also shared similar posts, saying, “today we remember the laughter and joy you brought in our lives every day” and “I know every day you’re watching over me, smiling.”

Despite her new relationships, the actress has always been vocal about her continual love for Corey, and has even memorialised his life with three tattoos adorned on her body. One of the number 5 – Finn Hudson’s football number. Another with the name ‘Finn’ on her bottom, and ‘If you say so’ tattooed on her ribcage, which relates to the song she wrote about Monteith, his life, and their love.
