When it comes to Elvis Presley memorabilia, this one takes the biscuit. And it could all be yours, if you have a cool $3.5 million to spare. Let’s hope you have deep pockets…
Elvis Presley’s personal private jet is now getting ready to go to auction on May 27 after sitting idle on the ground in New Mexico for the last 35 years – and it will be going to the highest bidder. So don’t worry about that sandwich you’re going to buy for lunch, you’ve got a jet to buy.
In true Elvis form, the jet he chose for himself and his father wasn’t your average run of the mill private jet. The plane is a rare 1963 Lockheed JetStar Jet (for those of you who aren’t plane-savvy, this is a huge deal). Although the plane no longer has its engine and can’t fly, it’s the interior that’s getting Elvis Presley fans excited.
It’s said that the plane was “One of the first Elvis owned… he spent hundreds of thousands modifying it.”
Everything within the plane was designed for Elvis’ exact specifications – and is complete with crushed red velvet seats and flooring, gold inlays, oak woodwork, pile shag rugs and long-forgotten television sets; “an overwhelming sense of history.”
The plane is already accumulating bids live on liveauctioneers.com and is already rocking up bids over $150,000 – but never fear, because you’ve got until May 27th to bid on this beauty.
You Can’t Help Falling In Love with this jet…
