Back To The Future Stars – Then And Now

Biff, is that you?!

Back To The Future is one of those films that is good for all occasions. Feeling sad? Watch Back To The Future. Feeling happy? Watch Back To The Future. Got the family round? Watch Back To The Future. You get the picture. But would you believe, it’s been over 30 years since the film was released! Take a look at what the stars looked like back then… and what they look like now.

Michael J. Fox as Marty Mcfly – Then

Canadian-born Michael J. Fox first broke into the industry as a youngster. At fifteen years old, Fox managed to land himself a role on the TV series Leo And Me, where he played a ten-year-old. (Err, that’s quite an age gap?) After a few years, Fox decided to move to L.A where he was cast in films such as Family Ties, Poison Ivy and of course, Back To The Future.

    Michael J. Fox – Now

Unfortunately, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, although he did not announce it to the public until seven years later. Since then, Michael J. Fox has dedicated his life to campaigning for increased awareness and research into the disease, including creating his own Foundation – the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. Alongside this, Michael is still acting and has even had his own TV Talk Show. We love you, Michael.

Christopher Lloyd as Dr. Emmett Brown – Then

What’s up, Doc? Christopher Lloyd entered the world of acting through Broadway, with his debut performance in Red, White and Maddox in 1969. For the next few years, he stayed in the theater. His first television debut was in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest in 1985, where he played a psychiatric patient. That same year, he appeared in the first Back To The Future film.

    Christopher Lloyd – Now

After the success of the first Back To The Future, Christopher Lloyd was in high demand. He would soon go on to play in the likes of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Uncle Fester in the hit film, The Addams Family. Lloyd married four times throughout his life but unfortunately never had any children.

Crispin Glover as George McFly – Then

As the son of an actor, Glover decided at thirteen-years-old that he also wanted to be an actor. He first started out as an actor in the TV series Happy Days, and then went on to play in Hill Street Blues and Family Ties. After these, Glover vowed to only work on movies from then on – and so he zoomed t ‘Back to the Future’ for the critically acclaimed movie role.

    Crispin Glover – Now

Glover only really appeared in the first Back To The Future film. When Glover and the producers could not come to a financial agreement on his appearance in the second film, the producers used unused footage from the first film and another actor in prosthetics to carry out the second film. Glover did not agree to this, sued Steven Spielberg and won. Since then, Glover has made appearances in a steady amount of films.

Lea Thompson as Lorraine Baines – Then

Lea started off her professional life as a Ballerina, but after being told she did not have the body to continue in the business, decided to change her craft to acting. Her first movie debut was in Jaws 3-D and from that landed roles in All The Right Moves and The Wild Life. In Back To The Future Lea plays Lorraine Baines, the mother of Marty McFly – who then develops a crush… on her son. I know, weird.
