Ah, Donald Trump. Where do we even begin? Okay, let’s start with his tweets. If you follow US President, Donald Trump on Twitter you’ll know he’s pretty… err… active. Some of his tweets will make you laugh out loud, others will make you want to cry, others will make you want to punch your pillow, and others will make you want to pack your suitcase and never return (am I right?) But thankfully, Andy Serkis is on hand to make it all better.
English actor and all-around acting legend, Andy Serkis is most famous for his role in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings franchise as the awkward, squirming, gurgling, paranoid and schizophrenic Gollum/Smeagol – the Stool creature who becomes possessed by the power of the Ring. And let’s just say, he sounds like he’s been smoking 500 a day for the past – well – past 500 years.
In a recent (hilarious) interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, the host asked Serkis to read out some of the President’s’ Tweets in the voice of his favorite character. And of course, he couldn’t just read them out sitting on the chair like a normal person. Oh, no. Serkis had to jump up and crouch on the chair as Gollum would.
Reading out quotes like “The fake news media has never been so wrong… or so dirty” and “Purposely incorrect stories and phony sources to meet their agenda of hate” Serkis absolutely nails it. And it’s bloomin’ hilarious.
Our favorite? “Despite the constant negative press… covfefe.”
Nope, we still don’t know what ‘covfefe’ means. Since it’s release, the interview has been watched nearly 3 million times – and naturally, people on Twitter are loving it.
Watching Andy Serkis read President Trump’s tweets as Gollum may be the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.
